JUST STUFF

What's been going on in the Peacock household:


1- Thesis writing. Bleh. Need I say more? Luke spends every waking available minute trying to get this monster done. He's almost there... almost there. The phrase "Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming" comes to mind.  It may kill him in the meantime, but it's due on Monday so he just has this weekend left. Thank goodness!

Since I have been trying to help him when I can... or at least be in the same room as him so I CAN help when he needs it. (or so he doesn't feel completely exiled to the upstairs office) it's left our kids pretty bored. *sorry children! 

That, and with it snowing all week long, and Adelia having a nasty cough.......... we're all starting to get cabin fever!  

One day Tianna and I made a snowman. That was fun :) 

Disregard the scary-mary pic! I had spent the rest of the day prior to snowman making inside scrubbing the house down so we could .......

Put it on the market!  That's right folks, even though we don't know where we are going after we leave Logan....... we're selling our house! Kinda sad about it. We have loved our home!

We've shown it to 2 prospective buyers already... and 2 Realtors. We aren't in any rush to sell since we have till May, but hopefully the timing all works out for us. 

Which brings me to the news. Luke has been interviewing at several places for work.  He had one with a recruting company for Reliable Controls. I don't know much about that job. But he has also had phone interviews with Rio Tinto, IM Flash, and Pacific Iron Pipe Company.  He has a phone interview with 3 people at once today with IM Flash... so we'll keep ya'all posted on what comes about from these interviews.

But it's exciting things are starting to happen!

Another fun thing that's starting to happen is:
This little cutie is trying to potty train herself. I'm not ready for that yet, but when she asks to go potty, we take her. She has had success 2 times! I can't even believe it!

And... she's starting to grow hair! Check out them piggies! I have a really cute potty picture but seem to have lost it. I'll have to find it and post it at a later date!

On Saturday a friend of mine was having a fundraiser for Primary Children's.  It was a princess party-- how could we resist especially with where the money was going to?! Tianna was in. Heaven. Of course!

 

Okay, look at the little girl in the Tiana (Princess and the Frog outfit). Isn't she the cutest little thing you've ever seen?

It's funny, I told Tianna since she's never worn Snow White for Halloween or anything, she should wear it. Little did I know that 3 other Snow Whites would be running around... and no one was dressed up like Sleeping Beauty which is always Tianna's first pick.  Ah well! It was really fun anyway! 

Valentine Surprise

This year for Valentines Day we went all out!

First we asked our main squeeze to be OUR VALENTINE- yes, I am willing to share him :)

Then we made preparations to eat at the finest steak house in Logan.  

Yes, those are chocolate dipped strawberries! 

 We pulled out all the stops to get this secluded table for 4. ( It may or may not have included duct taping a sheet up to partition it off from the kitchen..and removing the usual toys and play kitchen out of the way.)

The timing worked out just perfectly to have dinner ready and be all dressed in our fancies for when our date arrived. Of course, he was under dressed (as he had no idea any of this was going on) But not to worry.  His suit was waiting for him when he walked through the laundry room door.

He handed us our Valentine gift of GORGEOUS roses and quickly changed for our evening of fine dining:

While I was trying to dance with my little Valentine, she was merely trying to eat more chocolate. Figures.

Talk about NOSTALGIA ~  we LOVED our wedding day and our video that so perfectly documented it-thanks again Janelle and Ed for making it!

(funny side note-- Adelia HATED watching the videos of us. She kept screaming "Mama.. Dadda.." and reaching for the people on the TV even though we were holding her in our arms. I have never seen her so heart broken in all her life. It wans't like her usual sad/tantrum screams, it was a full on, broken heart cry. Sad.

The evening was finished off with some bubbly (Sparkling Cider) and more chocolate. (As well as some time spent working on his thesis, but we were still together so it didn't bother us)

Last, but certainly not least, I must mention my other gift from this wonderful, and tech-savy man. *we have a server set up at our house that he can access while he is at work. It is also connected to a computer hooked to the TV- which makes this possible.*

He called me while he was at work mid-morning and told me to turn on the TV to the computer mode.

There I found this gem- PLAYING OUR SONG no less. You can't see in the picture, but the cat is animated and is chiseling out the ice sculpture. So cute!  He is so sweet!

Just Another February Week

Last week was long. Really long. School is definitely picking up for Luke-- which means, a whole lot of time away from us. So what we did to occupy our time:

MONDAY I gave Adelia a MUCH needed haircut. Her cute little curl, well, it use to be a curl, was far too long and stringy. It was time to go.
As she is a moving target at all times... it's hard to get a good even cut, let alone a decent picture of it. But this is good enough:

TUESDAY we had some friends over: Chandra and I made some V-day decorations. It looks flat, but its actually on a block of wood.. I might have to keep them up cause I'm not ready to them down off my shelves yet! 

WEDNESDAY: I don't have pictures, but I have to share this story! I spent most of Wednesday and Thursday washing all the walls of our main floor- including the kitchen.  Thursday night I hear something NO one wants to hear after scrubbing walls all day. "Mom, Adelia just threw her mashed potatoes against the wall!" Sure 'nuff, 3-4 spoonfuls of potatoes stuck to my clean walls. Guess she needed a clean canvas...

Friday: Adelia decided she needed to be Cinderella... much of Saturday too! 

 We watched this cute girl for a bit

 And ended the night off with having our friends the Ercanbrack's over for Stacy's birthday. We had cake and ice cream and watched a SUPER good movie- "Life As We Know It."

SATURDAY: More time without Daddy. Boo.

He had church basketball- we went and watched for a bit, but afterwards he had to go to the World Wide Leadership Training, then off to the school to do homework with one of his classmates. So we chilled at home. and watched a lot of movies while I made this for Primary. (it took FOREVER. Pretty sure it was highly unnecessary too, but oh well. It occupied me.)

SUNDAY: And because no post is complete without both girls, here's Tianna right before churchy. How grown up does she look?! 

There was no Singing in the Rain

We looked forward to a weekend get-away with some friends at the cabin for a long time.  Finally, the day arrived on Friday. Everything worked out great- we all arrived in Scofield at 6 pm.  There were Robby and Sarah Jensen and their 2 little boys, and Jay and Mindy Langford and their daughter, and us. A few more were expected on Saturday, but for now, it was just us 3 families. We loaded up on snowmobiles and went up to the cabin to get the kids warm, and then the men would come back and get our stuff.

Sarah walked inside the door and just stopped and gave me a questioning look. It sounded as though a shower were running inside the kitchen. I pushed past her and found this!

It was literally like a SHOWER in the kitchen. Everything was soaked. The picture doesn't do justice to show the amount of water all over everything in the room. 

 The ceiling was on the floor.

As soon as I saw it I was so dumbfounded-- and pretty much, freaking out! I didn't even know what to do. I immediately called my parent's house and told my mom the cabin had flooded. She told me to call my dad. He was in the canyon on his way home from SLC. The conversation went like this: 

"Dad, we have a huge problem!" *Click* By then Luke had come in and seen it and immediately turned off the electricity for safety purposes. We had to try and use the sketchy cell phone service and eventually got through to my dad.

We turned off the water and stopped the "raining" and tried to assess the damage (mostly by candlelight). It was remarkable--- AND DEVASTATING!  We only took a few pictures- we only had Luke's phone camera with us.

We did what we could to salvage some of the stuff in the kitchen cupboards by dumping out the drawers and laying out the food to dry. Really, there wasn't a whole lot else we could do so we left.

We still wanted  to spend time with our friends as planned. It's so hard to get everyone together. We decided Mindy's parents in Price had enough spare bedrooms to accommodate us.  We are so appreciative to them for letting us crash there! 

It wasn't quite the same as being at the cabin, but we had a good time anyway. We spent Saturday eating, playing games, and visiting. Pretty much what we would have done in Scofield, but without the option of snow-fun. 

Blake and Chantel Merrell came down from Spanish Fork and Luke's sister, Monica, and Chris and the Boys came over from Castle Dale to play with us as well on Saturady. We really did have a great time with everyone despite the change of venue. (and how sad we all are about the cabin!!!)

The kids really had fun playing with each other. The Mays' had such fun toys too!

 Now I know Luke will be mad that I posted this picture but it's the only one we have to show we were there too.  Poor Luke.  He has an eye issue called Karetoconis. Basically his cornea droops. For now, his only option is to wear hard contacts. After 3 failed attempts to get the right fit, the fourth time he was sent home with these. He's in the "getting use to them phase" which basically means, wearing calluses on his eyes so they can stand having glass in them. The point where the camera was out this trip was while he was trying to wear them--hence the, "hurry and take the picture so I can shut my eyes!" look.

Sorry, Monica and Chris, and Aden and Raleigh are not pictured :( They came after we took pictures and I forgot to snap one of them. But we're glad they came too! 

Back to the cabin saga: 

My parents met with the clean-up service people on Saturday. Thankfully insurance will cover the damages and a company will do all the work.  It is just so depressing-- especially after all the hard work the entire family put into the remodel of the cabin, just 9 years ago! 

It's been determined that during the ridiculously cold temps at the beginning of last week (the lowest recorded temp at the cabin's thermometer was -40 deg. F) the pipe froze up.  When it warmed up around Wednesday the water began to leak. Garth was even in the cabin for a min on Wed but it hadn't even started a visible leak yet.  By Thursday to Friday (and especially after we turned the heat up by phone an hour or so before arriving) the water GUSHED and GUSHED. We're just so grateful that we had this party planned, otherwise it could have been a whole extra day or even a week more before it was found. By then, the damage would have been irreparable. .... count your many blessings, I guess!

Price Trip-Last week of January

The girlies and I went to Price week before last for a sudden trip... well, sort of sudden. We had been planning on going down for the first full week of February, but then my uncle passed away so we arranged to go earlier for a shorter trip, but it allowed me to be there for the funeral services.

It was my Uncle Mack Potter, my mom's brother, who passed away. He was such a great man! Thankfully he had been able to live a long, full life and he was surrounded by family who loved him.  He will certainly be missed.

So spontaneously on Tuesday night we decided to go, and by Wednesday morning at 8 am we were on the road.  The 2 days before the funeral were busy! I helped my mom do some house projects and Tianna helped Grandpa do some outside projects.... more on this later. Adelia just helped tear apart the house right behind any cleaning that had been done.

Friday my wonderful in-laws drove over have lunch with us at Pizza Hut. Then they came and got the girls on Saturday so I could enjoy (prob the wrong word choice for a funeral) but yes, so I could enjoy the funeral services and not be worrying about keeping the girls tame. I tried that at the viewing Friday night. It was exhausting and I didn't get to spend the quality time with my extended family as I wanted. I was extremely grateful they were able to get the girls for Saturday.

It really was so great to see my cousins and extended family that I haven't seen in YEARS! More than 12 years for some of them! The last family reunion we had, so many of my cousins children were babies. Heck, I practically was a baby in a sense. Now they are in high school or at least, jr. high. Therefore, I am happy to report that we plan to remedy that this summer and we WILL have a family reunion. I love the Potter family and it really was so good to see them all again.
