Labor day at the Cabin

Labor day weekend started out a little drizzly.... which meant it was a perfect time for a walk, right?!

Saturday wasn't rainy. We spent the day riding horses and baking cakes-- birthday cakes, that is.

Tianna wanted her birthday cake to look like the front entry of Disneyland... seeings as how we were heading there in one week! Yipppppeeeeeeee!!!

Luke is sporting his birthday presents... a shirt from one of our favorite shows, "Psych." He also informed that September was "Buy your husband a gun month" so ... I obliged. It even makes pew pew pew sounds! :) Happy Birthday Luke :) 33 looks great on you.

School Days

Tianna and Adelia started school again. It is so strange to me that they now attend my old elementary school, Creekview. It's like my life has come full circle!

Tianna is in 3rd grade and has Mrs. Taylor.  Adelia is in 1st grade and has Mr. Averett-- he's such a goofball.... but a great teacher. They are both very blessed to have awesome, loving, teachers.

While the big girls were at school, Linaya got some one-on-one mommy time.  We played play dough and she made a beautiful necklace :)

Adelia, the born gymnast, started class at Desert Castle Gymnastics in Price.

One day Tianna and mom had to wait at the tire store... it was very boring so we made our own fun.

A quick rainstorm made for a gorgeous rainbow.

Adelia finally learned how to ride without training wheels this summer.  She's awesome like that.

Linaya and Daddy has a daddy-daughter date. They went to the Dino Mine park

Adelia and Tianna went on a mommy-daughter date to watch my old cast mates from Payson Community Theater perform Peter Pan. Go Tia!!

Museum Shenanigans

School was about to start, so we decided we better get our smarts on by going to the Prehistoric Museum in Price. I grew up attending the museum and I'm so glad my family has the chance to visit it too!
Joy and I chaperoned all of the local grandchildren. It was so fun!

Remembering Vittoria

Every August we gather together as a Frandsen family and honor and remember our sweet angel niece, Vittoria.  It's been a few years since we were able to join the family on both Aug 16th, the anniversary of her passing, and Aug 23rd, her birthday.

This year, her birthday started out with our family speaking in my parents ward, where our records were for the limbo stage between moving.

The topic I was given was family.  When I heard the date we were to be speaking, I about said no.  How was I suppose to speak on family's on such a poignant day.  Not only is August 16th Vittoria's day, it is also the anniversary of Luke's dad's awful mine accident.  And... it happens to be my mom's birthday.  Somehow I made it through my talk, Luke gave a wonderful talk, Adelia bore her testimony, Tianna gave a talk and did so well, people told us she seemed more like a returned missionary than a 9 year old girl.
Then as a family we sang "Families can be together forever." Luke was holding Linaya and she kept covering his mouth so he couldn't sing. It was hilarious, but the song was so touching, I spent more time crying during the song, than singing. So happy that families really CAN BE TOGETHER FOREVER!

Annual Lake Family Reunion

This year the annual Lake family reunion was held at Indian Creek Campground again. Such a beautiful place.

So.... Linaya is almost 3. Clearly, it's time for driving lessons. No really. Luke actually let her steer the wheel.

This is what mommy thinks of her 2 year old driving already.
We had a super fun... long... hike.

A real highlight of this reunion was the sharing of stories of our ake ancestors.  Each of us was the find a relative and study their story and then share.  Not many chose to actually participate, but we did.... and we were SO proud of Tianna. She chose her ancestor, studied about her, and then presented to the whole family about her.  She's such a great kid!
