Daddy's Day and Tanning Beds

I can't believe Adelia is already 9 days old. It has kind of been a blur, but it's been very happy. We love our little baby so much!!! She is so good too! She only cries when being really messed with or when she's really ready to eat........OR............. when she's being placed under the Biliruben lights.

Her levels were a little high in the hospital but not enough to keep us there. By Tuesday they were higher and on Wednesday even higher. By Friday they were at 17 and the doctor ordered her to be placed under the bili lights. Thankfully we could do it at our house, but it still was not easy. As soon as we put her in she started screaming. It was so sad! Once she wasn't crying so hard she was still just really fidgety and aggitated unless she was really really sound asleep. For the first little while the only time she could get out though was to feed her and calm her down.
By Saturday her levels had dropped down to 13.5... which is only 0.3 from where they don't need to be on the lights anymore but we were still instructed to keep her on them the rest of the weekend. We haven't had a lot of sleep around here the past few nights. Good news is--- she's down to 9.3 and no longer needs to "TAN."

Other than we are doing great!!! Nursing has been much easier the past few days. That was a real struggle for the first half of last week. I talked to 3 different lactation consultants and was still really struggling. But, things are looking up for us! Whooooo hooooo!

Tianna is still loving her sister very much. I think she's starting to get a little jealous because she wants to be carried more than usual. We are trying to help her still feel just as loved and cared for but it's a little difficult when I'm feeding the baby or something and she wants to be held. She really has handled things quite well though-- at least a lot better than expected. She's sometimes a little mother hen though- yesterday Adelia started to cry because I was setting up to feed her and Tianna was frantically saying "Where's the binky? Where's the binky?" as she searched through the whole room. It was really funny!

On Friday my mom had to leave. Sad. She has spent Thursday to Friday with us and we want to let her know that we love and appreciate her so much! She was a huge help-- even if she didn't feel like she did much. Just having her there was enough even if she hadn't done anything. Which she DID though. Thanks Mom! Love you!! We also love Luke's mom and Monica and Aden-- thanks for coming up this weekend. Sorry you got here right when the bili lights did and you couldn't hold her much. Tianna sure enjoyed your visit though!

Father's Day was nice. After Luke and Tianna got home from church we took a family walk (back to the church to pick up the diaper bag. Afterwards we hung out outside for awhile. I just love my family!!!!!!


The chair was Luke's Father's Day gift-- he just HAD to test it out and make sure it worked right! :D
We also gave him a copy of the picture below in a frame for his desk at work. He is such an amazing daddy and his girls love him soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sooooooooo much!!!

Here She Comes, Miss Adelia Peacock

Introducing the newest Pea-Chick in town-- Adelia Rose Peacock. She made her grand entrance into the world on Saturday, June 13th, 2009 at 7:34 pm. She weighed 7.7 lbs and was 19 inches long.

The Whole Family-finally together after 9 long months and 9 long hours of labor

Both she and Mom are doing great!! We were able to bring her home on Sunday night and LOVE LOVE LOVE having her in our home!! Thank you everyone for your well wishes and for those that were able to come visit. We look forward to more visitors this weekend!

Her big sister is a major fan! The first person after Mom and Dad to hold her was Tianna. She took one look at her and said "She's too beautiful!" and gave her a kiss on the head. It was the most precious moment! Since then it's hard to keep her from loving on her constantly. She's adjusting beautifully to her role as Mommy's helper and Big Sister .

Adelia is such a great baby! The first night home she only at she only woke up once to eat and has done that the last two nights as well. Of course if I went to bed earlier it would be twice, but I still get about 6 hours a night! She never cries......... unless naked and cold or when I'm trying to feed her. That has been the only real challenge with her. Nursing is such a difficult thing and I want to do it soooooooooo badly, but I'm not going to lie-- it's rough! So, if you feel the need, pray for me to get her to eat! :D Other than that, she's very mellow and just so fun to have around!

The only other mild problem we have encountered is that she is slightly jaundice. Not enough to be really concerned with, but we have had to get it checked twice already.

So young, and yet already sun-bathing. What women won't do for beauty!

We had a really good time giving her the first bath at home. Tianna loved getting to help wash her hair.

TOMORROW!!!!!!!!

Yep! Baby Peacock should arrive sometime tomorrow! I am sooooooooooooooooooooo glad. I'm not nearly as miserable as I was with Tianna, but I am definitely getting to that point. At least this baby will be a few days early and not 6 days late. I'm getting induced tomorrow (hopefully... if the hospital doesn't get a sudden rush of women in labor... is it a full moon tonight?) Because next week when I am actually due is a very crazy week for the Frandsen family. Tori (my sister-in-law) is also due and my niece Vittoria is having surgery on the 22nd. So to alleviate some scheduling conflicts, my doctor is will to get the ball rolling. In fact, funny story--- he asked if I wanted to get started early and when I said that I did he told me, "Well you are in luck because I'm like a genie, and your wish is my command!" hahaha.. i thought that was a funny way of putting it.

39 Weeks Preggo

Anyway we're so excited! Tianna says she is... but who knows if she really understands. We shall see! But we've got tons of family coming into town and we're all just way excited to meet the newest Peacock Princess! So stay tuned and hopefully we'll post some pictures tomorrow or Sunday!


Meanwhile-- I said in my last entry that we've been super busy getting ready for her arrival. I think today I finished my last major "to do" which was to get the carpets cleaned.
Last week we got rid of our large wooden computer desk (with 6 drawers) to make room for a bed in our office/guest quarters. We replaced it with a new desk with NO drawers. We also lost an entire bookshelf in the process....
Point of the story-- we had to box up and sort through a LOT of things in order to make it work. It took several days, but we did it! Then on Friday afternoon Luke took the desk down to Price, picked up the bed, and came back early Saturday morning. He would have come back Friday night but he unfortunately had some weird bug hit him... thankfully he didn't share with the rest of the family.
We spent the rest of Saturday setting up the room, working in the yard and garden, and then we reorganized our shed. All of the shelves were falling down so Luke replaced them and we got it all put back together just before it got dark.

This week has been a little less work, but still busy. My ward was having their Girls Camp, and thankfully it was just a little way up Logan Canyon so I was able to make a daily appearance. I had to take Tianna with me and it's funny because I'm pretty sure she has no idea she isn't the same age as all of the other girls. Anyway, it was fun and I'm glad I could spend some time with my young women.

Luke on the other hand did not get to have as much fun as I. He spent most of the week studying for the GRE test which is the entrance test for his graduate program. He took the 4 hour test yesterday and we're hoping and praying and crossing all appendages that he did well enough to get in! It was a huge stress and we are glad he at least got it taken before the baby arrives.

Tianna...... well, she's just been her crazy self. Since recovering from her 4 day stomach flu, she's spent the last 2 weeks telling me "I'm hungry" EVERY HALF HOUR! I can't keep this child fed! I don't remember if I said in my last post that all her waking up in the night felt like having a newborn and was maybe just prep for the upcoming sleepless nights. Well, her constant hunger must be prep for the strict feeding schedule. Seriously, I'm not use to feeding her very often because she's never hungry and isn't a big eater. Now she eats like a horse and is hungry before I can even clean up from the last meal.

She is just growing up so fast. I can't believe how the past 33 months have just flown by. I'm so grateful for my little girl and how sweet and fun she is. She's so full of personality and energy and everyone just adores her. I can't wait to see her take on the role of "Big Sister" and watch her with our new little one.

The Calm Before the Storm

In my last post (if you haven't checked it out yet, I posted it day before yesterday) I explained all the FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN we had with Tianna's stomach bug... well, apparently the day before while Luke and I were at the wedding she was feeling fine. PS- keep your eyes posted in the next few days when I post about our fun adventures in getting our house ready for baby and visitors! All i can say is, I'm so grateful for a husband who is a handy-man AND a night owl!!!

Where Have All the Peacock's Gone???

I've been asking myself the past few weeks the same question! The second half of the month was such a blur and I haven't felt like blogging because I had too much to blog about. We've been having great fun with traveling, sicknesses, and potty training....
So I just put it off and now you are going to get a VERY large update! I should learn my lesson!

Going back to the weekend of May 16th, we watched my brother Jason's daughter, Jocelyn, over night. We had so much fun with her! The next day after they picked her up we all went to the little zoo in Logan. I love that place!

That night, on a random passing by of Wilson Motor's in Logan, we took a liking of Nissan Pathfinders. We knew our little Passat wasn't going to cut it once we add another baby in the backseat AND try put anything else in the car too. Since we go out of town to visit family so much we debated what to do about our cramped situation.
So Monday we test drove and by Tuesday we were the proud new owners of an 06 Nissan Pathfinder. It was sad saying good bye to the Passat, but we felt very good about our decision and have not regretted yet (in the past 2 weeks anyway!)

During the course of that week, another adventure began-- ILLNESSES in the Peacock home. For several weeks Tianna had had head congestion and it eventually turned into night-time coughing. I sort of think it began as allergies... or so I thought until Luke came down with a bad cold also. Those two battled out sickness all week and by Thursday when Tianna had a high fever I decided to take her in. As suspected, she had a sinus infection. Bring on the antibiotic!
(More on this issue later)

Meanwhile, we were still in the process of POTTY TRAINING. She had been doing impressively well! A potty-chart with prizes as well as Princess and Dora underwear seemed to be the golden ticket. Until...... one bad experience with numero 2 got her all freaked out and she decided she was no longer going to try in case it hurt her. This created a very VERY long trip down to Castle Dale. Between all the potty breaks (usually unsuccessful ones at that) and Memorial Day traffic, what usually takes us just over 3 1/2 hours took us 6 hours. Let's just say, potty training continued to go badly at grandma's house too.

Despite potty issues, we had a fun weekend anyway. We spent some time at the new swimming pool and Tianna had a blast with her cousin Aden and friend Lala. They played and played all weekend long with toys, the horses, and she even got to help make brownies with grandma Belinda.

Since it rained all weekend we didn't get as much outdoors action as we wanted to, but we still have a fun fishing trip on Memorial Day. Tianna (Luke) caught a few fish but she was much more interested in playing in the dirt with Aden. It made it nice for us parents who didn't have to keep them out of water the entire time. Independence can be great, can't it!

Luke had to return to Logan for a few days of work so I stayed with my mom for a couple of days. We also spent plenty of time with my sister and her kids too.

Luke came back to Price on Wednesday night because on Thursday we went to Manti to attend the wedding of one of our dearest friends, Blake, and his beautiful bride, Chantel. We are so happy we could be there for their special day!!! It was also really cool because Luke's other best friend, Robbie and his wife Sarah (whom I became good friends with at CEU) and Mindy, one of my best friends, and her husband, Jay were all there. It was a great reunion! Funny little tid bit-- we were sitting in the sealing room in the temple and we discovered that all of us were married in that exact same room! Go Room 2 AKA Needle Point Room!

It was a pretty busy day. We got to the temple at 9:00 and then after all the events there we drove to Spanish Fork for the luncheon... spent several hours after that killing time (Thanks for letting us visit Jay and Joy!) and then went to the reception. Following that, we drove back to Castle Dale.......... basically we just wanted to see how many miles we could put on our new car in one week!!!

The remainder of the weekend was when the REAL fun began. Ha. Ha. In the middle of Thursday night Tianna woke up with the worst stomach flu ever. That little girl was so sick. We spent all of Friday doing nothing but lying around. Luke still wasn't over his cold either and I had gotten it too. Tianna was still sick from her sinus infection and was now battling a horrible stomach virus on top of that. We were pretty pethetic all day.
We did venture out on a little drive Friday evening-- just to get out of the house! We drove out to the Little Grand Canyon (the Wedge) which is 30 minutes out of Castle Dale.
My goodness that place is beautiful!!! The only thing that could bring a smile to Tianna's face though was a flower in her ear. Good thing she's a girlie-girl or else little things like that might not do the trick!

Saturday we went to Price and basically spent our whole time there resting and recovering also. I did get to attend the bridal shower of my good friend, Annie though. That was a plus! :D

By Sunday we were all so ready to be home. It's hard being sick when you are away from the comforts of your own place. Thankfully we made it home without any potty stops or any puking stops! yay!!! Unfortunately that good luck only lasted until a half hour after Tianna was in bed. Then it was time for more laundry!

Luckily things are looking up for all of us this week. Oh, except for yesterday just when I thought she was about over everything, Tianna woke up with a rash all over her body! UGH! For a kid who is hardly ever sick she certainly decided to make it a good old round this time! Hopefully we will all get over everything and stay that way because we really need to get healthy before this baby makes her grand entrance into the world. ... .which by the way is most likely going to be on JUNE 13th!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's really not far away and I'm sorta freaking out about it!! Don't get me wrong, I'm sick of being pregnant, but am I really to be Mommy of 2?!?!?!
After all the sleepless nights lately and extra loads of laundry due to potty training and stomach flu... I feel like I already have a newborn living with me, but I'm still not sure I'm quite ready for all this yet!!! Too late now though, right?

I guess that just means the adventures will continue! Stay tuned for more updates on the baby situation!

MUM'S DAY!

So Happy late Mother's Day out there to all you fine women! I have such great examples of wonderful mother's. My mother and my mother in law are awesome... and of course so are our grandmothers!!! I also really appreciate the many things I learn from my sister and sister in laws. You are all such great mothers- you teach me so much! And not to be forgotten, all of you moms out there who's blogs I read-- I get such great ideas and inspirations from all of you. Most of the time I just end up realizing how many things I SHOULD be doing with Tianna, but I appreciate having some inspiration to be a better mother. So thank you all you mother's in my life!!! And thank you Tianna for being such a joy to mother!!!

Okay- back to business... we have had a busy few days so this post is going to be long... so read on only if you wish.

Friday evening we drove down to Salt Lake so that I could attend the graduation of my long time best friend, Janelle (Bruno) Robinson. She graduated from the MBA program at the U with a double Master's degree. Seriously, that girl is a genius! (hah- i had to use spell check to even spell genius correctly...) Anyway, it was awesome to celebrate this momentousness occasion with her.

On a side note- I also want to congratulate my brother Jason for his graduation from BYU in the Construction Management program a few weeks ago. He's also amazing and I'm so happy for him! You GO BRO!

Saturday we woke bright and early to get hackin' in the garden! We planted our garden.. which may be too early for Logan... so pray with us that our plants survive! It was really fun working together as a family. Tianna thought whatever we were doing was the greatest thing ever. She gets so excited about everything! The highlight of her day was planting the pumpkin seeds. She is such a determined little toad that while we were doing the tomatoes she kept burying the pumpkin seed packet in the ground next to the tomato plants because we weren't fast enough for her. She wanted the pumpkins in the ground and she wanted them NOW!
Anyway... we planted corn, peas, beans, cucumbers, peppers, carrots, onions, tomatoes, zucchini, yellow zucchini (not squash-oops) and PUMPKINS! Hopefully more things grow than did last year. Basically out of last year's crop we got a half ear of corn, 2 orange pumpkins, several tomatoes, and a WHOOOOOOOOOOOOLE bunch of Zucchini. (and a whole lot of weeds. I hope to be better at keeping them at bay too)

Sunday was just plain awesome! I vote Mother's Day should be every Sunday! :) Luke was so cute-- he and Tianna made me breakfast in bed. The funny thing was, I was up before either of them so i could work on my lesson for YW's. He came up the stairs carrying a plate loaded with yummy food and said "Get back in bed!" So I obeyed.... then he realized I would end up eating alone, so he brought Tianna's high chair up and they ate in my room with me. Again, Tianna thought that was just the coolest thing.
Then it was off to church and that of course was good. When we got home we went on a little walk while our dinner cooked. It was followed by a delicious meal! Steak, baked potatoes, salad, steamed carrots.... can you say YUM?
When we were done eating, Tianna got her backpack on and informed us she was going to "Work/School." (I think she's seen her daddy leave the house a few times) She put her shoes on herself and then tried to go out the front door. Thankfully she' can't open it by herself, so she asked me to do it. I sent daddy out the door with her and he got some cute pictures.

Since we weren't really sure where her school and work are we decided we had better tag along. We made a second trip around our block. The heavy backpack slowed her down so preggo-mommy could keep up with her better!

The rest of the afternoon was really nice too. While Tianna napped, Luke did too, and I read. Then Luke's aunt and uncle came over for cake. His uncle raises lab puppies and with the mention of puppy's, Tianna decided she was going to their house to see the puppies. She got her shoes on and said "lets go!" Thankfully they were okay with that so we spent the rest of the day at their house. It's nice having some family up in the great north!

Tangent time-- I give a HUUUUUUUUUUGe shout-out to any parent who has successfully potty trained children. I must say, it is a HARD job! Tianna has been sporadically using the potty since before she turned 2. She was all sorts of interested then, and it quickly dwindled until she had no desire. First I was sick, then busy, then tired, and just plain too lazy to push it when she wasn't even interested.
Well, last week a friend of mine was potty training her little girl and I felt inspired. So we bought the cute little princess undies and that was basically all it took for Tianna! That, and a potty chart with bribery!
Sunday before and after church was our first attempt. She did really well actually! It wasn't until our second walk right after dinner (and of course a drink) that we had an accident. Luckily it was on the grass in the backyard. If we had gone inside about 2 minutes sooner it wouldn't have even happend.
Monday........ she had an accident a half hour after getting her undies on but was good the whole rest of the day. Yesterday we made it clear until evening without any problems. She's doing so well I am just sooooooooo proud of her!
But, that doesn't mean it's easy. It's actually quite exhausting to ask them every half hour or so... and taking them every half hour or so. The worst part is in public.... especially when you are standing in the nasty, dirty, hot, cramped bathroom at Walmart when you know they SHOULD need to go and won't...for what feels like an eternity. Then as soon as you give up and get to the other end of the story and they decide they do need to go after all.
It will be worth it in the end though!

Monday, her reward for filling up the row on her chart was an icecream cone. She couldn't have been more excited!!!

Okay, enough potty stories. (sorry BTW, but this is like my journal so I gotta post things like that)

Monday we were also privileged to have my parents come stay at our house. My dad had a work-related thing to attend up here and so he of course brought my mom along with him. Monday night we went to the Old Barn theater and watched, "Peter Pan" together. It was a cute show!

Yesterday my mom helped me orgazine the baby things in the kid's room. They brought all the rest of our baby stuff up with them from Price and so we needed to find a place to put all of it! It feels good to be a little more organized and prepared.... In some ways i feel like we're jumping the gun on putting out all of the babies things but then I remember I am at week 35 out of 40 and the last 3 weeks we'll be busy. So if not now, then when, right?? When I get their room a little more put together I will post pictures so you can see the really cute crib set I got! YAY!
So the next question is-- our house is about ready for two kids, AM I?!?!?!

All the Pretty Tulips!

Miracles do happen-- MOST of my tulips are still in tact. Last year the neighborhood "delinquents" as I unkindly refer to a hoard of little girls who live by us, clipped just about ever single tulip I had in my front yard. After some serious talkin' to's and threats... they have left them mostly alone. Funny story though-- the other day, we were taking off for the weekend and I told Luke I better go take a few pictures with his camera phone just in case I came back and they were all gone. As soon as I had gotten back in the car and we were backing out of the driveway we see one of them walking down the sidewalk with a handful of flowers and bent down next to the neighbors dafoldils. Luke jumped out of the car to go and stop her.... but upon a closer observation he realized her hands were just full of dandelions (by all means, TAKE THE DARN THINGS!!!) So again, he warned her not to take any flowers from other people's yards unless they are just dandelions. Okay.... so we're paronoid. But too bad! Muahahhahahhaaaa....

When we returned Monday I found that 5 had been picked, but I can live with that. Last year they only left with me with about that many.
