Sadly, that was not the case. Her knees were looking wonderful (yay!) but her ankles and her jaw were suspected to have it now. BOOOO! We x-rayed her ankles and they did have some arth. in them. I honestly didn't think they did because the don't bother her. But her jaw was obvious because when she opened her mouth wide her bottom jaw was further to one side. However, the only was to know for sure was through an MRI.
On Jan 25th we went to the Riverton Primary Children's for her MRI. She had to have an IV so she could have conscious sedation. She haaaated getting the IV but everything well went.
Okay, as well as they can when you have to take your 5 year old who shouldn't have to have anything like this happen to them, well. At least Luke was able to come with us since he had technically "worked" during the weekend for his flight home from Japan and had a day off to make up for it.

Thankfully Adelia had a good place to be while we were at the hospital. my friend Kristen lived nearby and watched her.. In fact, she's married to Luke's cousin so her kids and my kids are 3rd cousins. So fun!

Anyway, it came back positive that she did in fact have it in her jaw. That is NOT good... the jaw bone erodes very quickly with the arthritis so they wanted to do a joint injection asap..... and change her medication. That part is the hardest for me. But I will explain that issue some other time.
But in non-related to arthritis news, she is growing up!!!
She started taking Ballet lessons from a lady in our ward and loves it so far!
Three days after her MRI, she woke up Saturday, the 28th and said, "Mom! I have something to tell you!" She ran in my room to show me she has a loose tooth. Sure enough! and as she wiggled it all day long (and cried a bit about it) eventutally it got so loose I pulled it out.
The tooth fairy made her debut performance that night! When she woke up and showed Adelia her dollar, Adelia said, "let's do it again!" meaning, pull Tianna's other teeth out! hahahaha..
She must have had a premonition because the next day, Tianna found another loose one. This time we told her not to wiggle it too much so it could stay in a little longer (and because she whined so much every time she moved it!)
Playing doctor to her new doll
Then the procedure, which was far more in depth this time because it was in her jaw (and ankles) took an hour. The jaw is so small it had to be done in radiology. Then another hour or two to get her out of anesthesia. She had a bit of a rougher time this time, but was still so brave.
She even woke up with a little surprise from THE TOOTH FAIRY! right before she went under, they asked if she had any loose teeth. They offered to pull out her tooth while she was asleep-- i thought it was a great idea!
She woke up to an adorable little specimen cup with her tooth, her dollar (she was a quick little fairy!) and a label saying "Tianna's second loose tooth." I love the radiology department! They were amazingly kind to us.
That night the Tooth Fairy came again....... I guess she figured getting your tooth pulled while at Primary Children's warranted 2 dollars. :)
After a few days of sore ankles (kind of ironic that they never hurt BEFORE but did after) she's been doing great. I don't know if it has fully helped her jaw because it is still off-centered, but, hopefully it stopped any more erosion. I will update when we know anything else.
As for now, I just want Tianna to know how much we love her. She is such an amazing person and is growing up to be quite a great young lady!

I bet it's so hard to see her go through it all. You are so strong Mary! I will be thinking about you guys. What a sweet little girl!
Aw, poor Tianna... I hate knowing she has to go through that. She is such a cutie and I love your stories about her spunky personality. :)
We took many trips to Primary Children's during Carson's first 18 months (he was the first-ever patient at the one in Riverton!) and although I hope my kids don't ever require another visit there... I was so gratful for the the amazing doctors/nurses- so skilled and kind. Sometimes I think childhood illnesses are harder on the Mommas than the kids. When I think about the 4 surgeries Carson had and my time spent in waiting rooms stressing out, my heart still sinks. (Even though it has been 3 years and he's fine now!) Good luck with everything! *hugs*
Mary, I'm so sorry that Tianna (and you guys) are going through this:(. I'll definitely keep you guys in my prayers. We wish the best for you.
