We have started a new tradition to have our own little Christmas at home the weekend before the actual holiday, which is always spent at either my parents cabin, or Luke's parents house. We love being with the family Christmas morning, but kind of miss having our own traditions at our house.
Last year we set up their bunk beds for them to wake up to Saturday morning. This year we just set out their book shelf from us. It also helps with the logistics of not having to transport every gift. This year we took the kids to Shopko Friday night to pick out their gifts for each other. We also enjoyed dinner at one of our fave's: Cafe Rio.... unfortunately, I'm pretty sure every OTHER family in South Utah County went there too. I've never seen it so busy. But ohhhhhhhh so tasty!
When we got home we listened to the book their Great Grandma Lake gave them last year with a recording of her reading, "A Charlie Brown Christmas." It's one of our all-time favorite gifts.
"Christmas" morning
It's so nice to wake up and have a leisurely day together.
Linaya likes to chase the cat
That evening while watching "The Grinch" the girls put together a rice-krispy treat ginger bread house.
It wasn't very stable, but it sure was tasty!
This is also a favorite gift at our house. Great Grandma Peacock gave this little Nativity to the girls a few years ago. It gets played with daily, all Christmas season.
Exchanging their gifts to each other:
It's Mi-eee" (Minnie Mouse. her FAVORITE!)
"Frozen" jewelry. OR as Adelia calls it, my Elsa Earrings.
Tianna gets just about as excited for clothese as a teenage girl does.
Giving her Minnie kisses.
The classic, "hurry and take the picture, I have to go to the bathroom RIGHT NOW" face
We had more snow at home than we did during all of Christmas break.
